Patricia Burda Janečková (18 June – 1 October ) was a Slovak coloratura soprano. At the age of 12, she was the winner of the Czech–Slovak television show Talentmania[cs] in November [2] and gained international recognition through the broadcasting of CNN television shortly after winning.[3][4]
Early life
[edit]Janečková was born in Münchberg to Slovak parents Martin Janeček, double bassist and Zuzana Janečková who used to play the violin.[5] Shortly after, her family moved to Ostrava in the Czech Republic.[6][7] She started singing at four years old.[5] After graduating from

Janečková seems to have had a significant following in part due to her recordings outside the operatic repertoire, but she was highly regarded as an upcoming opera star. I featured one of her performances in this series back in —Frühlingsstimmenby Johann Strauss Jr.
Born in the German town of Münchberg, she grew up in the Czech Republic and studied at the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava. Her career received a major boost when in she won the International Sacred Music Competition in Rome, a competition devoted exclusively to the solo repertoire of sacred music. She was married just a few months ago.
