NEW YORK, NY.- Santi Moix (b. 1960, Barcelona, Spain), has completed an 200-ft long mural in the Prada SoHo Epicenter, to be on view through August 31, 2013. The Catalan artist was commissioned to create a site-specific work incorporating the stores existing temporary wallpaper, designed by New York design firm 2x4, depicting a reclining nude woman that stretches the entire length of the store. The changing wallpaper is an original feature of the store design by Rem Koolhaas/OMA. In collaboration with Prada, 2x4 has created over 20 different wallpaper installations since the store opened in 2001. Moix says of the work: The idea was to try to create a kind of tattoo for the reclining giant. inom appro • His work is characterized by breaking up with the image of continuity, creating biomorphic structures, paintings and sculptures as moving elements. |
