Although at the beginning of her career she was known as a scream queen because of her roles in many horror movies (beginning with her first ever role as Laurie Strode in 1978's Halloween), Curtis has since appeared in a variety of different movie genres. Her role as Deirdre Beaubeirdre in the 2022 movie Everything Everywhere All at Once earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and a Screen Actors Guild Award. She has also received a Grammy Award nomination and two Golden Globe Awards. In 2024, she won a Primetime Emmy Award.
