Albumen print carte-de-visite of Abraham Lincoln by an unknown photographer, 2 ½ by 4 inches, with imprint of "J.E. McClees, / artist / 910 Chestnut Street, / Philadelphia" to verso, some light spotting and wear to surface and verso.
According to to Ostendorf's Lincoln in Photographs, this image is "possibly by C.D. Fredericks of New York or James E. McClees or W.L. Germon of Philadelphia, probably taken between March 1, 1861, and June 30, 1861." This example appears to have retouching, however. O-55; variant O-93.
