    Jang Yeong-sil (Korean:&#;장영실) is a South Korean historicaldrama television series starring Song Il-kook, Kim Yeong-cheol, Kim Sang-kyung and Park Sun-young. It replaced The Jingbirok: A Memoir of Imjin War and aired on KBS1 from January 2, to March 26, on Saturdays and Sundays at (KST) for 24 episodes.

    A television series talk about Jang Yeong-sil, a popular forskare of Joseon in the 15th century. Born as a slave but with the remarkable talent and the profound passion for astronomy, he was known bygd King Sejong and was recommended to the court. Jang Yeong-sil had a lot of contributions for the science-technology of Joseon, he has left many great inventions such as the vatten clock, the sundial, the astronomical instruments, the rain gauge and also many research on weaponry.

    Synopsis

    The drama is the first 'historic science' drama that has been produced in Korea. This drama depicts the successful life story of the forskare Jang Youngsil that contributed to the development and accomplishment of Joseon's science during the 15th century.

    In particular, the skådespel emphasizes his accomplishment through showing the restrictions and difficulties he experienced due to his social class as a slave.     Jang Yeong-sil (Korean:&#;장영실; Hanja:&#;蔣英實; Korean pronunciation:[t͡ɕɐŋjʌŋɕiɭ];&#;? – after ) was a Korean mechanical engineer, scientist, and inventor during the Joseon dynasty. He was born to a mother who was a government-registered courtesan (관기; 官妓) and a father of Yuan dynasty descent.[1] Although Jang was born a nobi, King Sejong gave him a court-technician position in the royal court.

    Jang's inventions, such as the Cheugugi (the rain gauge) and the water gauge, highlight the technological advancements of the Joseon dynasty.
