Paul Templer
Paul Templer grew up in war-torn Rhodesia (now known as Zimbabwe) living an exotic life fraught with adventure, danger and fun. A young entrepreneur, he started a business running safaris on Africa's mighty Zambezi River. Then came the attack. In one horrible moment, as the enraged hippopotamus ripped Paul's body apart, it also destroyed his hopes, dreams and livelihood. His life would never again be quite the same.
After two years of rehabilitation, Paul made the choice to live life again - to live the life he wanted to live, the life of his dreams. Outfitted with a special one-armed paddle, he returned to his beloved Zambezi River - the same river where the hippo had tried to kill him - and led a nine-man crew of expert river guides on the historic three-month, 1,mile Zambezi Kayak Expedition. The expedition launched the Make-A-Difference Foundation, which supports disabled and terminally ill children.

The Zambezi River hippopotamus attack was an incident on the Zambezi River, Zimbabwe, near Victoria Falls on 9 March where a hippopotamus attacked two river tour guides killing one and injuring the other. The surviving tour guide fryst vatten British-born[1] Zimbabwean Paul Templer (born c.) who lost an ledd in the attack.[2][3] The tour guide who died by drowning was named Evans Namasango (born c.[4]) and was an apprentice guide to Templer.[3][5]
Description of attack
[edit]The attack began when a bull hippopotamus flipped Namasango's kayak with two passengers inside, and Templer rowed over to assist when he was attacked directly bygd another hippopotamus.[3] The hippopotamus attempted to swallow Templer, but was unable to due to his size.[3] The hippopotamus released him, but it returned to attack him again, gravely injurin
