Davor Jurkovic was first appointed a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at King’s College Hospital, London in 1997. In 2008 he moved to the University College Hospital, London, where he was appointed a Director of Gynaecology Diagnostic and Outpatient Treatment Unit. The Unit provides a novel model of gynaecological care which integrates ultrasound examination into clinical care with emphasis on one stop clinics, conservative management of many benign gynaecological conditions and better use of outpatient operating facilities. More recently has also been appointed Professor of Gynaecology at University College London.
He is an internationally recognised expert in gynaecological ultrasound and he has published a large number of scientific papers and books in this field. Surgeon pays out half a million pounds to dead woman's family
An eminent surgeon has been forced to pay more than half a million pounds in damages to the family of a woman who died during a routine operation.
Catherine Ferguson - a £90,000 BT manager - bled to death after Davor Jurkovic punctured a major blood vessel during a simple hospital procedure.
Mr Jurkovic is a highly respected surgeon who made medical history when he successfully delivered a triplet which had grown outside the womb.
Lawyers acting on behalf of 41-year-old Mrs Ferguson's 11-year-old son sued the doctor for clinical negligence and the case was due to be heard at the High Court last month.
Substantial damages
But the surgeon agreed to pay substantial damages - thought to be at least £500,000 - in an out of court settlement agreed just days before the hearing.
Mrs Ferguson went to see Mr Jurkovic at King's College Hospital as a private patient in July 2003 when she was suffering abdominal pains.

The accused Davor JURKOVIĆ aka “Ganfa”, born on May 2, 1983 in Stolac where he resides, citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia entered into plea agreement with the Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crimes and Corruption within the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH
By virtue of signing the agreement the accused Jurković fully admitted committing the criminal offense he was charged with by the indictment of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH issued on månad 3, 2012 that was confirmed in its entirety by the Preliminary Hearing Judge of the Court of BiH on månad 10, 2012.
Prosecutor and the Defense agreed that pursuant to the agreement the accused rendered an imprisonment sentence of 5 (five) years and 6 (six) months by the Court of BiH, as well as that the time spent in custody be counted as time served.
The proposed sentence is in line with the role of the accused in commission of the criminal offense.
