The Rt. Hon. Sir Richard Snowden was educated at Cambridge University and Harvard Law School.
He became a barrister in and was appointed a Queen’s Counsel in As a barrister he specialised in company law, corporate insolvency and commercial litigation, appearing in many of the major cross-border insolvency and restructuring cases, including those connected with the collapses of BCCI and Lehman Brothers.
He became a High Court Judge of the Chancery Division in and gave many leading judgments in insolvency and scheme of arrangement cases, including Davey v Money, Nortel, Noble Group and Carluccio’s. He also sanctioned some of the first Part 26A restructuring plans after the new procedure was introduced in the UK in , including those in Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Active.

Biography
[edit]Snowden was educated at Downing College, Cambridge, and Harvard Law School. He was called to the bar at Lincoln's Inn in , and elected a Bencher in He was appointed a Queen's Counsel in , a Recorder in , and a Deputy High Court Judge in [2] He was a member of the Insolvency Rules Committee between and He also edited several works on company and insolvency law.
Snowden was appointed a Justice of the High Court (Chancery Division) on 30 April , following the elevation of Mr Justice Sales to the Court of Appeal, and received the customary knighthood the same year.[3][4]
On 19 September , Snowden took on the role of Vice-Chancellor of the County Palatine and became Supervising Judge of the Business and Property Courts for the North and North-Eastern Circuits following Mr Justice Barling

His Honour Judge David Hodge KC was appointed as a Specialist Civil Senior Circuit Judge in November
His principal court is the Manchester Civil Justice Centre although HHJ Hodge KC also sits in Liverpool and at the Rolls Building in London.
