Career
[edit]Elam began her career in New York as a copy editor for Dow Jones Newswires. Afterwards, she joined Bridge News, an international news service. After joining Bridge, Elam began her shift to broadcast news by covering corporate earnings for Nightly Business Report, PBS's business news schema. Elam was also an anchor of First Business, a nationally syndicated, weekday morning financial news program and Market on the Close, a live show on WebFN which focused on the stock market in the gods hour of trading. A career sacrifice for family
I graduated from Howard University in with a degree in broadcast journalism and immediately moved to New York to take a job with Dow Jones Newswires as a financial news copy editor. I was promoted every year before leaving for a competitor, Bridge News. During that time, I would also appear on PBS’s Nightly Business Report and live-streaming financial website Eventually, WebFN hired me full time to report from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange and to anchor the nationally syndicated show, First Business.
