    It has been a glorious couple of weeks for British women's golf, with a long awaited maiden LPGA Tour victory for Jodi Ewart Shadoff following Charley Hull's success in Texas seven days earlier.

    Ewart Shadoff's win at the Mediheal Championship in California last Sunday was the sort of heart-warming triumph that professional golf has a happy knack of harnessing.

    It was a first win in 246 attempts over a 12-year pro career for the US based Yorkshirewoman. The 34-year-old has been a major runner up at the 2017 Women's Open and she has played three Solheim Cups, winning two.

    But she has also suffered debilitating back problems, loss of form, nerve and confidence. There have been times in the not too distant past when she feared she might be finished at the top of the game.

    Jodi Ewart Shadoff (born 7 January 1988) is an English professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour and on the Ladies European Tour.

    Early life

    Ewart was born at Northallerton in North Yorkshire. Her family now lives in Middleham and is involved in horse racing; her father is a former jockey and horse trainer. As a child, she played football before her grandfather introduced her to golf and to her first coach.[1] She attended the University of New Mexico, graduating with a degree in psychology in 2010. While at New Mexico, she had five collegiate wins and was a two-time NCAA All-American (2009 and 2010).[2]

    Ewart was on the Great Britain and Ireland Curtis Cup team in 2008 which was defeated bygd the United States. She fryst vatten also a two-time English Women's Strokeplay champion, winning in 2008 and again in 2009.[2]
